Creating Your First Tag

This guide walks you through creating a complete, polished tag from start to finish.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have:

  • A tagd-ai account (sign up here)
  • An idea of what you want to create (e.g., product info, asset label, contact card)

Creating the Tag

1. Start a New Tag

From your dashboard:

  1. Click the + New Tag button in the top right
  2. A new untitled tag opens in the editor

2. Add a Title

Click on "Untitled" at the top and type your tag's name. This title appears:

  • At the top of your tag when viewed
  • In your tag list on the dashboard
  • In search results

3. Add Content Blocks

Click anywhere in the editor to start typing, or use the + button to add different content types:

Text Content

Simply start typing to add text. Use the formatting toolbar to:

  • Bold or italicize text
  • Create headings
  • Add bullet or numbered lists
  • Change text color or highlight

Images

  1. Click +Image
  2. Upload from your device or paste a URL
  3. Add an optional caption
  4. Click the image to resize or align

Files

  1. Click +File
  2. Upload documents, PDFs, or other files
  3. Viewers can download directly from the tag

Callouts

  1. Click +Callout
  2. Choose a style (info, warning, tip, etc.)
  3. Add important information that stands out

4. Organize Your Content

  • Drag blocks to reorder them
  • Delete blocks using the trash icon
  • Duplicate blocks for similar content

Setting Permissions

Control who can access your tag:

  1. Click the Settings icon in the toolbar
  2. Under Permissions, choose:
    • Public - Anyone with the link
    • Domain - Only your organization
    • Owner - Only you

Generating the QR Code

  1. Click the QR Code button
  2. The QR code is generated automatically
  3. Download, print, or copy the link

Testing Your Tag

Always test before deploying:

  1. Copy the tag URL or scan the QR code
  2. Open in an incognito/private browser window
  3. Verify all content displays correctly
  4. Test on both mobile and desktop

Best Practices

Content Tips

  • Keep titles short and descriptive
  • Lead with the most important information
  • Use images to improve engagement
  • Test on mobile devices (most scans happen on phones)

QR Code Tips

  • Print at minimum 2cm × 2cm for reliable scanning
  • Ensure good contrast between code and background
  • Test printed codes before mass distribution

Organization Tips

  • Use folders to group related tags
  • Add hashtags for easy filtering
  • Pin important tags to keep them at the top
